Suppuration

It is one of the termination of acute inflammation . suppuration os molecular necrosis and liquefaction of tissues by the pyogenic bacteria . The infected tissue will undergo necrosis and the dead tissue will be liquefied by the leucocyte , bacteria and their ferments toi form pus which is creasy or semisolid material . The pus is surrounded by pyogenic membrane which is formed by thin layer of neutrophils lymphoytes , an d few eosinophils . the formation  of pus will start after positive chemotaxis and necrosis of the tissue . When the leucocyte mainly polymorphonuclear neutrophils , move towards  the injurious agents and engulf agents. The process is called phagocytes and this type of attracting property is called positive chemotactic phenomenon . after necrosis , the necrosed tissue of skin or mucous membrane may be thrown out , leading to ulcer . when the liquefied material will be enclosed in the cavity below  the surface , there will be formation of ab scess . when there is massive necrosis , there may be formation  of gangrene . Thus the suppuration will be produced by –

i)                    Necrosis of  tissue
ii)                  Sufficient leucocytes will come in contact with injurious agents and engulf the injurious agents ( phagocytosis ) .

iii)                Digestion of dead material by proteolytic ferment liberated by dead neutrophils and also bacterial ferments ..
